Murray Scott's Legacy

Murray Scott was called to the Ontario Bar in 1977 and dedicated his career to serving clients with integrity and professionalism. As a partner in his firm, he maintained a thriving practice in real estate, business law, and estate planning until his passing on March 20, 2020.

Murray’s extensive legal expertise spanned residential and commercial transactions, large-scale group acquisitions of leased lands, and the development of Sudbury’s first Common Elements Condominium Corporation — a groundbreaking achievement in local real estate.

His corporate work was equally impressive, guiding the formation of businesses, not-for-profits, partnerships, and joint ventures. He played a key role in major transitions, including the Northern Ontario conversion of an international oil company, the restructuring of a local hospital, and the reorganization of Northern Ontario’s distance education system.

Beyond his legal practice, Murray was deeply committed to his community. He served on the Board of Directors for the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation for 19 years, chaired the Board of Governors at Cambrian College, and held the role of President for the Rotary Club of Sudbury Sunrisers.

Murray’s dedication to his clients was unmatched. He believed in delivering thoughtful guidance, honest advice, and consistent support — values that continue to inspire those who follow in his footsteps.
